Open Web Developer Summit to Take Place April 21-22, 2008 in New York City
In keeping with the longstanding SYS-CON tradition of being at the very forefront of software development with all its online and offline resources, SYS-CON Media & Events jointly today announced a double whammy, launching both 'Open Web Developer's Journal' (htt p://openweb.sys-con.com) and 'Open Web Developer Summit' (http://openweb.s ys-con.com) - to be held for the first time in New York City April 21-22, 2008.
A Crash Course in Recovery Description
The success of J2EE and JTA/JCA have lead to more and more complex integration scenarios: multiple vendor-specific connectors are plugged into application servers such as JBoss, and many of these connectors are based on open-source themselves. Unfortunately, many databases that we know of (both open-source and commercial) have failed to implement the necessary functionality for being truly enterprise-class. In this talk we present the most common mistakes that we have encountered, and show how JBoss can be used for truly robust integration. Intended audience: people who want to use JBoss for mission-critical integration projects (such as financial industries and telecom), and people who want to write robust XA-capable resource adapters for JBoss (such as RDBMS or JMS developers).
Integrating JBoss with OracleAQ as a XA Enabled Inbound Resource Adapter
This presentation will describe the process of integrating JBoss with OracleAQ, and introduce Inbound Resource Adapters and XA technology. We will cover the implementation of a generic Inbound RA, using XA in your RA and the specifics of bridging Oracle XA and JBoss XA. In addition, we will cover some performance consideration and the lessons learned on this project.
Integrating Mainframe Applications into a SOA Using JBoss
Mainframe applications, legacy or newly developed, play a vital role in an enterprise mission critical information system. This session is an attempt to position the various J2EE - JBOSS integration options available for the integration of the mainframe applications and how these help Unisys Clearpath mainframe customers to emerge into a Service Oriented Architecture. As an application server scenario can be very complex to maintain during run-time, this session will briefly touch on some development & deployment as well as monitoring and 'health checking' mechanisms imperative for keeping a resilient application server environment in production.
A Rule-Based Engine Implementation on JBoss
This presentation describes a rule-based system built using the JESS rules engine deployed on a cluster of JBoss application servers. The evaluation process and the decision to use JESS as the foundation of the application is provided. The application is an automated underwriting engine for lending decisions. Addressed are the issues of redundancy, hot deployment of both code and rules and administration and monitoring of statistical and state information on the underwriting engine. Also presented are performance numbers and simple optimization strategies on both cluster and application levels.
J2EE Connection Architecture in JBoss
This presentation describes a complete solution for an application running on JBoss that needs to access different EIS's. The application discussed accomplishes much more than just the connection framework. It promises a seamless switch from legacy to newer data sources as and when they become ready. JBoss ensures the scalability of the adapter by ensuring high availability and pooling. The presentation will include real world examples, deployment scenarios and best practices.
Scaling up JBoss
This presentation describes the accomplishments of the tests, highlights significant improvements, and provides information on performance gains attained using industry standard benchmarks.
Configuring, Deploying and Managing JBoss in Large Scale Production Environments
This presentation will describe the approach taken by AutoTrader.com to enable applications to be built, packaged and deployed in such an environment. The focus of the presentation will be to detail the methods AutoTrader.com has developed, after working with JBoss for several years, to successfully configure, package and deploy web applications in a large-scale Unix environment.
Workflow Made Easy with JBoss jBPM
You'll learn what is actually common amongst the diversity of current workflow and BPM systems and how this is translates in the JBoss jBPM foundations. This presentation will give you clear answers in a topic where diversity and confusion rules. Attendees will learn about the workflow foundation called graph oriented programming. Gain insight in how graph oriented programming integrates with the java platform and how it allows the usage of the JVM as the runtime environment for business processes. Server side developers will learn what to expect from a workflow management system.
JBoss Portal 2.0
This presentation is intended to give an overview of the JBoss Portal offering. It seeks to describe the history of JBoss Portal, what is planned for the future, outline its underlying architecture, and define how developers may create portlets that integrate with it.
Improving Systems with JBossProfiler
JBossProfiler has 3 modules that can help in development. One such module is Profiler, which can capture information in a production/test system, as the profiler has some characteristics like stop/start/pause and several filters. Another module is JUnitProfile, which can improve code by analyzing testcases daily. If something changes and memory-leaks start to be produced, information can be accessed earlier. The presentation will demonstrate how to use these tools and techniques.
