This presentation describes the decision making process towards a J2EE architecture using JBoss and analyzes this architecture's advantages within the context of an Advanced Process Control (APC) application running in a manufacturing environment. Catalyst is an application framework that enables customers to create, implement, and maintain factory-wide APC solutions. The evaluation details that led to the selection of JBoss will be presented. Additionally, a high level system overview is provided describing the communication paths between process control requesters and the system.
