IBM says it's putting Notes and Domino collaboration software on mobile and web-connected devices such as the iPhone, Nokia smartphones, In search of market share it will make Domino Designer tools available for free. Domino's automatic synching for e-mail, contacts and calendar data now reaches the iPhone. The new features, which include push e-mail, enable iPhone users to work off-line and IBM says confidential data can be erased remotely if an iPhone is lost or stolen. iPhone users can also take advantage of a corporate directory look-up feature that helps them find contact information behind their company firewall. Updates for Nokia's Symbian platform include remote wipe, device lock, password management and external calendar integration. The IBM software provides all of these capabilities for Windows Mobile devices as well. Notes and Domino now support most smartphones.
